About GHE Ministries
Gospel, Health and Education Ministries (GHE Ministries) is a non-profit organization whose goal or mission is to help spread the gospel of Christ including the three angels' messages, wherever God leads, through building capacity, which will also facilitate community development.
The beginning:
Our work started in the city of Thomonde, Haiti, where we are currently helping the SDA church build the basic infrastructure they need to house a community church, a school, and a health center. The new building will help improve access to health and at least elementary education for the congregation and local community.
In summer 2009, Dr. Jean Cadet was invited by Project Medishare to conduct a study on "Barriers to Prenatal Care Services in Marmont, Haiti." While he attended church in Thomonde during the data collection phase for the study, church leaders requested his help for their building project. For 22 years, they have been struggling to build a church in the area but were never able to raise enough funds to make their dream come true. Once Dr. Cadet saw the condition of the place where they worship and have school, he was convinced that they needed help. Thus, he volunteered to help them.
However, after visiting other rural places outside of Port-au-prince, he realized that the church of Thomonde was not the only one that needed help. Many rural communities in Haiti do not have access to Bibles, a place to worship God, basic education and health care.
With the help of some friends from Conyers SDA Church in the U.S., he started to provide some help to the church of Thomonde. Unfortunately, after three years of personal efforts, he realized that it will require combined efforts to make a difference in the life of our brothers and sisters in rural Haiti. Therefore, in January 2013, he officially created the "Rural Haiti Christian Ministries" in order to be more efficient in helping the less fortunate in rural Haiti.

The expansion:
In summer 2013, God’s providence led Dr. Cadet in the field again for professional work, this time in Guinea, West Africa where he spent three months supporting the World Health Organization (WHO)’s effort to eradicate polio worldwide and providing technical assistance to the Guinean ministry of health. While he was there, he was touched by the struggles of the Adventist church in Guinea to preach the gospel in a predominantly Muslim country where most people’s basic needs such as access to education and health care are not met either. Again, with the little help he could provide, he supported the efforts of the Guinea SDA mission to implement an elementary school in Conakry, the capital of Guinea.
After the experience in Guinea and a quick assessment of the communities in Chesterfield and Petersburg, Virginia, it became evident that Haiti is not and cannot be the only place where GHE Ministries should focus its efforts to improve community health and to spread the three angels’ messages of Revelation 14.
Therefore, in March 2014, the name “Rural Haiti Christian Ministries” was changed to “Gospel Health and Education Ministries” also known as GHE Ministries in order to better reflect the expansion in the works of the ministries.
